About
Born and based in Sydney, Australia, Andrew’s painting practice is grounded in a deep interest in composition, atmosphere, and the emotional resonance of place. While technically rigorous, the work is equally shaped by nostalgia and childhood memory, often exploring the quiet psychological presence of familiar urban and coastal environments.
Working primarily from subjects he knows intimately, Andrew’s paintings are informed by Australian light, colour, and motifs. His urban and coastal narratives move between observation and memory, with representation often softened by recollection and emotional connection.
Many of the buildings and environments depicted in the work have since been altered or demolished through redevelopment, giving the paintings an unintended documentary quality. In this sense, Andrew’s practice reflects not only an engagement with landscape and architecture, but also with the passing of time and the fragile persistence of memory.
